THANK YOU – WE WON!
From everyone on the Village Hall Committee we would like to say a big thank you to everyone
who supported the Bags For Help campaign at Tesco. As you may have heard we won and now the
Village Hall Committee have £3500 towards the children’s play equipment planned for
installation on the playing field at the Village Hall.
It is a great start to the fund-raising for this project which we are very keen to see succeed.
We have also applied for another grant with Aviva so fingers crossed!
We have been accepted as an eligible project by them so we will put more information
on about this when we receive it. It does involve some online voting.
We are very keen to complete this project by the spring
so any ideas or help with fund-raising events would be brilliant.
Thank you once again!
If you require further information call Pauline on 01379 688302
Thank you from the Lophams Society for your fantastic turnout and support at the Autmn Quiz last Friday.
Over 100 people came and tested their knowledge against each other, 17 teams took part.
We had very many compliments about the evening and everyone appeared to enjoy the cheese and
sausage ploughmans supper. We are really pleased that people enjoy the quiz evenings so much.
As most of you know booking a table in advance is now almost essential if you want to come along.
Sadly we can't fit any more than 17 tables in the hall and had to turn somepeople down when they phoned to book a place.
So thank you again to both our regular supporters and those who joined us for the first time
who came along to this most enjoyable evening and we look forward to seeing you at the Spring Quiz.
The next Lophams' Society event will be the
Christmas Drop-in on 15th December which is a free event and open to all past and present
residents of the Lophams.
Poster with details to follow shortly.

Lophams' Village Hall Lottery
September Lottery Winners:
1st Prize, £200 - Mr & Mrs Kercher (141)
2nd Prizes, £50 - Brian Goodey (388) and Simon Dilloway (440)
The October 2016 draw marked the close of the 7th year of the Lophams' Village Hall lottery!
During the last seven years, over £25,000 has been distributed in prize money and over £13,500 has been contributed to the Village Hall Development Fund. Sincere thanks from the hall management committee to all those who have participated, your support has allowed us to make important improvements to the building and its surroundings, some of which are listed below. Please remember that our principal purpose is to maintain the fabric of the hall as an attractive venue for the use and benefit of local people and that the proceeds from the Village Hall Lottery are designated entirely for this. If you're not in the lottery but would like to join, please ring 01379 687718, supply your contact details and you will be notified as soon as a vacancy arises.
Why not hire the hall for an event of your own? It's there for you to use! Contact details and hire rates are published on this site.
The Next Draw will be on SATURDAY 28th October 2017 at the Farmers' Market.
To see a list of previous winners, click on 'Lottery News' at the top left of this page and scroll down.
Continued improvements to the Village Hall include more work on the kitchen area; new tiled walls, new electrical equipment, humidifyer, with more cupboard doors being be replaced in the coming months; the car park has been resurfaced; facilities for the less able have been relocated to improve access (thanks to Paul Sturman, builders); the main gates have been moved to encourage more use of the field when the hall is not open; and a dog bin and new litter bin have been put in place. Thank you all for your support which has allowed us to get these things done, however, there is always further work required and your on-going and greatly valued participation is still needed so, if you entered for six months, you may need to renew your entry by 14th October to stay in with a chance and to continue to help the Village Hall. Contact Tim Colyer 01379 687718; Thanks again everyone!
Hiring the Hall
To hire the hall, please telephone Mrs. J. Vere on 01379 687679. To view current hiring rates, click here. Hiring rates have been held since October 1st 2011. In spite of rising costs, especially electricity, it was decided at the last meeting not to increase them for a further 12 months unless conditions change dramatically.
